There's no place like home!

Click your heels three times and repeat after me, "There's no Place like home, there's no place like home!" Where were the powers of the ruby red slippers when I needed them? Miss M and I were on our way to fast become airport experts. Tom Hanks has nothing on us. We just spent over 30 hours trying to get home. This adventure included: two overnight stays in a New York and Colorado airport, super uncomfortable chairs, several trips to Dunkin' Donuts, two trashy magazines, getting kicked out of the gate area (darn those LaGuardians!), hearing, about every 15 minutes, an announcement about not leaving suitcases unattended or they will be destroyed...I heard it so much that it became part of my dream in Denver, one trip to Mickey Dees, palm readings, slimey teeth, totally stinky breath, too much money spent on a banana, lots of praying, loss of sanity, greasy hair, laughing til it hurts, tears, thank yous, a greater appreciation for home, and the craziest ending to a super fab trip with a super fab gal. I will travel with you anywhere, Miss M, but never will I sleep over in an airport! There really is no place like home (and a hot shower followed with deodarant, and a good teeth brushing!). Welcome Back!!
p.s I will post later all about the trip! It was wonderful.....

Sebastian Bach is one cool guy!

So, Sebastian Bach. You know, Sebastian Bach of Skid Row fame or more recently Gilmore Girls. I loved him on Gilmore Girls. He was dynamite. Anyway, he was in my dream last night. What was he doing there? Well, apparently he has a son with Autism (probably not true) and this son happens to be in my class. Super cool. I am thinking if he son is in my class, then Sebastian needs to bring his guitar in so we can have a music group. Oh, and I would probably call him Gil. Just for kicks and giggles!

So Good, So Good........

I love Neil Diamond! His concert was last night and my love for him is even stronger. I wish that he knew this and wouldn't find it creepy that a 33year old has a crush on him....okay, maybe the crush is more on his music than on him, but he is pretty darn terrific. Let me give you the low down on how great this concert was. I will give you the good, the bad, and the ugly! Yep, there was some ugly going on. First off, I love, love concerts. They are probably one of my most favorite things to do. I am an annoying concert goer. I scream until my throat hurts, I dance like a crazy lady, and I sing totally off key. Super fun! It's not just me, however, my sisters are in the mix, as well. Three crazies all going to a concert....sounds like a good time to me! So, we find our seats, sit down, and then I turn to the people behind me and say," We like to get pretty crazy, just so you know!" A nice forewarning of events to come. And, they will come! The old biddy behind me responds by saying, "As long as you don't stand up and get in my way!" I later found out that her husband added, "And not make too much noise!" Um....too much noise? At a concert? Never! Well, they have been warned. So, the lights dim and Brother Neil comes walking out. I go crazy. My sisters go crazy. The whole arena goes crazy, except for old Biddy and Mr. Old Biddy. They sit there like they are at a funeral. BORING!!! We are standing up and dancing. Oh the exhiliration! Then, Feather, gets a tap on her shoulder, she turns around and it's Old Biddy yelling at her, "Sit down!" "I paid money for these tickets, so sit down or I will have you thrown out!" Is that possible because I am pretty sure that it is not? She then grabs my shirt and yells (am I suppose to respect my elders when they don't respect me?),"Sit down! I paid for these seats." Sorry, folks, I am not a nice person! I yelled back, "So, did I and I want to dance!" She again mentions that she will call over an usher.....oooh scary! I stay standing for a while and then when Neil sings a few slower songs, I sit. I eventually switch seats with Bear, my 10 year old nephew. We indoctrinate the gospel of Neil pretty young! I can now dance and shake it all I want. Neil even told us the rules were.....THEY WERE NO RULES!! He said, "If you want to dance, you can dance!" At which point, I screamed and wanted to direct it at Old Biddy!

The concert was amazing. He played his greats like: Sweet Caroline, Cracklin' Rosie, Coming to America, I'm a Believer and on and on and on. Oh, it was heaven all wrapped up in a black shiny shirt. I had so much fun dancing and singing with my sisters and nephews. He finished off with "Coming to America" (which brought J.B and Bear to their feets and swaying) and "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show". It was an amazing time. I find myself now just a little Neil hungover, but oh so happy!

Also, a big shout out to the sweet old lady sitting behind us that told us,"It was such a pleasure having you sit in front of me!" "Boy, if I could move like you girls, I would." She was so nice and was appalled that someone would threaten to have us thrown out. She said, "Some people just don't know how to have fun!" Amen, sister, Amen!

Thanks, Neil for a super fab time! Please, please come back soon.

Two kinds of People.....

"There are two kinds of people. Those who love Neil Diamond and those who don't." I happen to LOVE Neil Diamond. In one week, yes one lovely, lovely week, my good friend, Neil and I will be reunited. It's been three very long years and I am so ready!

Happy Birthday, Kaye!

Some people are only beautiful on the outside and some are only beautiful on the inside, but lucky me, I was blessed with a mom who was/is beautiful on the inside and the outside! I wish you a very Happy Birthday. My wish is that heaven lets you take a moment to pause, eat some cake and ice cream, and take a peek at all the goodness you have created, because it is truly great! Her life continues to bless those that knew her. Happy Birthday, mom! Miss you. xoxox

If I had a bazillion dollars I would pay to have Placido Domingo come and sing lullabies to me. I can almost bet that I would get the best sleep I have had in years and maybe, I would have some great dreams too. Could you imagine? His voice is so majestic and yet, so soothing. It really speaks to my soul and stirs things within me (like my spleen and sometimes I have felt my pancreas stir...odd). I have loved his voice for years! So, the holiday season is now upon us and breathing down my neck, but the one thing that I really look forward to is pulling out my Placido Domingo tape(I am an old fashion gal...tapes and vinyls for me) and crankin' up the volume, especially when he sings "Oh Holy Night." I guarantee you it will make your soul quiver. It's just that good. So my Christmas gift to you, my blog reading friends, is for you to enjoy his voice, as well! I hope it brings you peace! Or at least a great appreciation for guys who can hit really high notes! (please note: this video was the best I could find. I am not sure why Julie Andrews is in it, but I love her too.)

Cylce of Love

I love it when I plan to sleep in, but my body has other ideas, such was the case this morning. Seriously, saturday mornings are for sleeping in and not for waking up at 7:30 am. Geez! Well, because I couldn't convince myself to fall back asleep I decided to go to a spinning class at 8:30. The instructor is pretty great. He picks good music, he shouts out words of encouragement, and he makes my big behind work it at such an early hour. Rock on, brother! However, I think he has a new lady love and she sits right in front of me and faces the instructor. So cute! He looks at her with adoring eyes. Oh how they twinkle! Young/Old love (my instructor is getting up there in years and his lady love looks 30ish) is so cute. What I don't like and what makes my stomach churn a bit is when he says stuff like, "I will count to twelve unless "My Sweetness" distracts me, which is easy to do!" Blech. He calls her cute little pet names like, "my little kumquat." It's nice he has someone (everyone should), but I want a good work out and not a side show to a romance novel. Can I get an AMEN??

Funky, Crazy Buildings

So, Yesterday in class my professor showed us pictures of buildings by different architectures. We were discussing Postmodernism. A few by Frank Lloyd Wright and some by Frank Gehry. They were crazy weird. I recommend looking some up. I love them, but not necessarily sure that I would want to live in them. Frank Lloyd Wright's are especially funky and believe me, I love me some funk, but I want a building I could see myself living in. I was thinking about these buildings and then I remembered this cool building that I often passed, while sitting in the train in Germany, it was on my way to Plochingen. I think one of the stops was right in front of this building. I remember clearly pressing my nose up against the glass trying to get the best view possible. It fascinated me so. I never took a picture of it(not sure why) and I must have passed it about 50 times, but every time I saw it, it was like I was seeing it for the first time, with awe and wonderment.

Run Calvin boy Run!

I run. I don't run fast. I don't run like a gazelle. I have never tried running without shoes or even underwear. But, I do run. I like to run for causes that I believe in. On Thanksgiving, I ran for the cause of the Human Race. Yep, the Race that you and I belong to, so I ran for you! Did you feel it? I ran with some great friends, but this year I managed to wrangle my cute nephew, Calvin, into running with me. I am not sure he knew what he was getting himself into, but just like a true champ (and relative of mine) he ran the entire race....rain and all. I think I embarassed him a time or two by either my crazy blue leopard print tights or chasing after him while singing, "Eye of the Tiger!" Believe me, that gets anyone moving. You just don't want to hear me sing. I believe running is good for the body, but I really believe that running with loved ones is good for the heart and soul! Thanks Calvin boy!
