He's an OLD MAN!!!

Today my dad is the big 8-0!! Yep, you read that right!! My dad is 80 years old (or young, depending on how you look at things!).

Here are just a few things that I loved about my daddy-o:

* He could do the Fat Albert voice
* He made ice cream for a living.....pretty much the COOLEST job that a dad can have
* When we would visit him at Cream O' Weber, he would draw caricatures on the sugar bags and let us operate the box smasher. A bonus!
* He would let my little sister and me put barretts and other hair things in his hair. He sat very patiently as we played beauty salon with him.
* I love shoulder rides from my dad. He was 6 feet tall (or somewhere around there) and so, together we were gigantic.
* I remember the feeling of having him carry me through a haunted house. I was seven and pretty scared about the fact that some old lady wanted my blood. I still remember the feeling of nuzzling into his shoulder the entire time.

Well, I hope there is some kind of party going on in Heaven.

Happy Birthday, Dad! I love and miss you! xoxox

A Funny Encounter.....

Scene: Leaving Liberty Park with a 10 year old boy in tow.

Man to boy: Is that your older sister or your mom looking that good?

Me: I'm not his mom.

Man: What color is that in your hair? Green? Blue?

Me: It's teal, so it's both blue and green :)

Man: Well, it looks really great with your high cheekbones.

Me: Thanks!

Man: No, thank you for being you and for blessing us with your presence

Me: (I just got in my car and didn't know how to respond)

Man: (As I am pulling out, faces me and bows.)

Just another day!

Wanna know what my favorite part of this week was? When one of my students brought a briefcase, instead of his backpack, and called it a satchel. (well, actually a statchel!)

Wanna know my least favorite part of this week? My bark cough!

Just some thoughts that have taken over my brain....

1. While hanging out with my little respite gal on Tuesday. She said to me, "I want to give you a hug!" I asked her why and she replied, "Because I love you!" Um....so sweet. It made the rest of my night just that much better. 2. Is it just me or do you think that a skinny little 8 year old should not be running/walking on a tread mill while mom is standing behind her? This was a scene at the gym today. 3. I have lost a few inches off my rear. I will not miss them or try to find them. They can stay lost forever. 4. Why is Barbacoa so delish? And why must I eat there about once a week? 5. My new Bishopric showed up to my place the other day. I had been laying (or is it lying) in bed just watching a movie. My hair was pretty messy. I hesitated in answering the door, but I did anyway. Three men is suits is a bit daunting. Did I mention that my hair was pretty messy? I still let them in. 6. NEWS FLASH!! I had a date last weekend. It was fun. I probably won't hear from the guy again. sigh. oh well. 7. I wish I could put all of my students on a charm bracelet. They are just that adorable. I can't stand how much I love them. Maybe I have attachment probs. 8. I wish I could take out the part of my brain that cares..because sometimes I just don't want to care. (that wasn't in reference to my students) 9. I can't wait for more than two days of birds chirping, fresh cut grass smells, and a shining sun. Oh when will that happen? 10. I have tried three times to read the fifth Harry Potter. I just can't do it. I am now attempting to listen to it. So far, so good!! Hooray for me.

How I am like Kim Kardashian........

I was at the gym the other day and started watching "Keeping up the Kardashians" (it's pretty much a train wreck) And, I had the thought, "I am just like Kim!" And here is how..... 1. She has a booty. I have a booty. Although, her's is a bit more photographed and famous. I am ok with that. 2. Kim has two sisters. I have two sisters. Kim is goofy with her sisters and I am totally goofy with my sisters. So much the same!! My sisters are cute too!! 3, I have been known to walk a red carpet. Kim has walked a red carpet or two. 4. Wherever I go guys always follow me. They always follow Kim. 5. I have been known to be a bit stylish...I think Kim stole some of my fashion idears.

Festival of Colors

Lots of colors, Lots of people, and lots of fun!!

I had color EVERYWHERE and it took a few days to get it all out.

My cute nephew, Bear, came with us too. I think he loved throwing color all over me :)
