I was a backup singer for Bono....

Ok, so technically I did the oohs and ahhs with the rest of the crowd, but if he asked me to be a backup singer. I totally would!

One of my students told me that he is going to marry me tomorrow. Today, I am single. Tomorrow, a married lady. I am guessing that I will have to support the fam until he gets through first grade. So cute.

A kid that I have been tutoring likes to write things in the air. When I asked him what he was writing, he said," Stop talking, Grandma or I will shove a hot pocket in your mouth." Mmmkay...

I finally watched "Splendor in the Grass" and I really liked it.

Did I ever mention that I am now attending a mid singles ward? Well, I am. I never had plans of doing so, but it just felt right and I really like it a lot.

I met this cool, nerdy, awkward, cute guy at a pot luck and we chatted for about 2 hours. I discovered that he can fix tables, so I asked him to fix mine. It was my mom's and it is in pretty good condition. So, he came over, fixed the table, and then asked me if I wanted to go to dinner with him. He then told me, "I have a confession to make. I used fixing your table as a ploy to ask you out." I told him, "Well, it worked!" I am crossing all body parts that can be crossed he calls back.

Bruno Mars with my cute nephew is next Monday. I am pretty darn excited to embarrass the lad, but then he has hung out with me a lot, so it may not really happen.

When Bono kept asking, "What time is it?" I yelled back, "Hammer time!" It just seemed appropriate.

Race for the cure!!

This is after the race! Aren't we so cute?

Before the twirling, skipping, leaping etc. began. We had to warm up!

The crowd was so huge. I am always in awe of how many people in front of me and how many in back of me. It's just a sea of people. It's pretty amazing!

Right before the race started.

This pic is awesome! These cute boys wanted our tutus and we refused. This pic was taken when we were almost done. The one boy found his own tutu. Some dude stopped us to take our picture. Apparently, this picture was sent out to the volunteers. Yep, we are just that cool!

This was my 10th year running this race and by far, one of my most funnest (may not be a word, but totally appropriate!) I love that these gals run with me and for my mom.

But, I don't just run for her, I run so that others don't have to lose their moms too.

Join me next year!!

p.s thanks to Jenny for making our cute tutus.

He's an OLD MAN!!!

Today my dad is the big 8-0!! Yep, you read that right!! My dad is 80 years old (or young, depending on how you look at things!).

Here are just a few things that I loved about my daddy-o:

* He could do the Fat Albert voice
* He made ice cream for a living.....pretty much the COOLEST job that a dad can have
* When we would visit him at Cream O' Weber, he would draw caricatures on the sugar bags and let us operate the box smasher. A bonus!
* He would let my little sister and me put barretts and other hair things in his hair. He sat very patiently as we played beauty salon with him.
* I love shoulder rides from my dad. He was 6 feet tall (or somewhere around there) and so, together we were gigantic.
* I remember the feeling of having him carry me through a haunted house. I was seven and pretty scared about the fact that some old lady wanted my blood. I still remember the feeling of nuzzling into his shoulder the entire time.

Well, I hope there is some kind of party going on in Heaven.

Happy Birthday, Dad! I love and miss you! xoxox

A Funny Encounter.....

Scene: Leaving Liberty Park with a 10 year old boy in tow.

Man to boy: Is that your older sister or your mom looking that good?

Me: I'm not his mom.

Man: What color is that in your hair? Green? Blue?

Me: It's teal, so it's both blue and green :)

Man: Well, it looks really great with your high cheekbones.

Me: Thanks!

Man: No, thank you for being you and for blessing us with your presence

Me: (I just got in my car and didn't know how to respond)

Man: (As I am pulling out, faces me and bows.)

Just another day!

Wanna know what my favorite part of this week was? When one of my students brought a briefcase, instead of his backpack, and called it a satchel. (well, actually a statchel!)

Wanna know my least favorite part of this week? My bark cough!
