Friday Thing
Okay, I know it's Saturday. My English Prof., who is pretty freaking cool, gives us little handouts each Friday. She calls it "Friday Thing"! I love it, so her Friday thing will now be my Friday thing (or Saturday!)
Enjoy!

He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it.
McBride fell 12 stories, hitting the pavement like a Hefty Bag filled with vegetable soup.
From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you're on vacation in another city and 'Jeopardy' comes on at 7 p.m. instead of 7:30.
Her hair glistened in the rain like nose hair after a sneeze.
Her eyes were like two brown circles with big black dots in the center.
Long seperated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, on having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.
John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met.
Enjoy!

Reason #101 of why I love my job...
One student, while looking at stickers of various superheroes, said to a staff, "Sarah, do you want to be a beautiful woman?"
Another student said, after we had called the class to line up, "Instead of line up, why don't we line down?"
And this is one of the many reasons why my job is F-U-N! (most days!)

Sweet Like a Crow..
The other day in my English class, my professor (who I think is pretty darn cool) passed this out for us to read. She has a read different poems each Friday. She calls it her "Friday thing". I love it. This poem made me laugh. It's sort of the anti-valentines day poem.
Enjoy!
Your voice sounds like a scorpion being pushed through a glass tube
like someone has just trod on a peacock
like wind howling in a coconut
lie a rusty bible, like someone pulling barbed wired
across a stone courtyard, like a pig drowning,
a vattacka being fried
a bone shaking hands
a frog singing at Carnegie Hall.
Like crows swimming in milk,
like a nose beinghit my a mango
like the crowd at the Royal - Thomian match,
a womb full of twins, a pariah dog
with a magpie in its mouth
like the midnight jet from Casablanca
like Air Pakistan curry,
a typewriter on fire, like a spirit in the gas which cooks your dinner,
like a hundred pappadans being crunched, like someone
uselessly trying to like 3 Roses matches in a dark room,
the clicking sound of a reef when you put your head into the sea,
a dolphin reciting epic poetry to a sleepy audience,
the sound of a fan when someone throws brinjals at it,
like pineapples being sliced in the Pettah market
like betel juice hitting a butterfly in mid-air
like a whole village running naked onto the street
and tearing their sarongs, like an angry family
pushing a jeep out of the mud, like dirt on the needle,
like 8 sharks being carried on the back of a bicycle
like 3 old ladies locked in the lavatory
like the sound I heard when having an afternoon sleep and
someone walked through my room in ankle bracelets.

Dear Family,
I know it seems weird that a dog has the capabilities to type a letter, but I am smarter than I look. You are all great, but I want a friend. I want this friend to have four legs, fur all over, and says "Meow". I would love it so much by giving it daily baths (I would try my best to be gentle), share my toys (most days), and let it sleep next to me on my big giant pillow.
Please, please!
Love your faithful dog,
Looo
(sorry the pic is fuzzy)

25 things and then some.....
Okay, I have been tagged on Facebook with the 25 things about me...blah blah blah, so I thought that I would post it on my blog.
1. I hate, with a passion, cottage cheese. When I was younger and my mom put cottage cheese out for our breakfast, I knew that meant it was going to be a bad day. I can't stand the sight of it and when people eat it by me, it makes me want to hurl.
2. Hospitals make me a bit woozy. I am getting much much better, but I use to go visit someone at the hospital, but then immediately insist on seeing the babies. I can handle babies!
3. I want to name a fingernail polish. I think it would be the coolest job ever.
4. I love things that set me apart from others.....funky colored tights, jewelry, the red streaks in my hair, my loud and sometimes obnoxious laugh etc. It's like my own signature style.
5. I want to join the Peace Corp. I have thought about it for sometime now. I always told myself that if I was still single by age 35 I would seriously consider it, but 35 is next year and I am not sure I would be ready. Maybe by 37!
6. I LOVE my Family. This doesn't just include the family Heavenly Father gave me, but also those that have adopted me as their daughter because my parents are gone.
7. I love that when something is funny to me, it takes me forever to explain what's funny. I laugh before I even get to the punch line. I love this because my mom did the same thing and so did my grandma. Sometimes heredity is wonderful!
8. I would like to be an interior decorator. I can't wait to have my own house. I already have most rooms, in my imaginary house, decorated.
9. I wish I wasn't so hard on my self.
10. I adore my friends. They accept me for who I am and love me regardless of my faults. Bless you.
11. I want a cat, but my roommate is allergic, so I am trying to convice my sister that her dog wants one! Is it working?
12. I cry every time I watch "The Bucket List" because Jack Nicholson looks like my pops and it makes me miss him like crazy.
13. I love dressing up....and it doesn't have to be just for Halloween.
14. I love sleeping in a cold room with tons of blankets on top of me.
15. I LOVE Neil Diamond. I have fond memories of dancing with my sisters in our living room. Also, One of my favorite memories of my mom was when we took her to see Neil. I think she was so excited that she almost jumped out of her skin. We had an extra seat this year and said that the extra seat was for our mom.
16. I desperately want to go back to Germany. I feel like Gertrude Stein, "American is my country and Paris is my hometown." I feel the same about Germany. I love everything about it.
17. I love, love to read. There is something so cathartic about it. It ignites my soul. I almost always have a book nearby. Those who don't like to read are seriously missing out.
18. I love men's choirs. When I was on my mission, I loved when some of the Elders would sing, "Beautiful Savior." It just didn't get any better than that.
19. Someday I want to wear a fancy red dress and go to a ball.
20. I am currently learning how to tap dance.....awesome!
21. I love going to the downtown Farmer's Market. I love being around so many different types of people, and the produce is pretty darn great too!
22. I want to own a California Cruiser. Those cute old fashion bikes. I would put a wicker basket on the front and ride it all over. I am pretty sure it would make me happy.
23. I wish I could write better. I really enjoy it, but know that it could improve. I definitely appreciate those that were blessed with that gift.
24. In my next life I am going to be able to sing and draw. Two talents I wish I possessed, but sadly don't
25. I get annoyed when people don't listen to me,but interrupt when I am talking.
26. I love pancakes. They pretty much makes breakfast worthwhile.
27. I want to live in Rhode Island.
28. I once gave Jaime Lee Curtis gum. A pretty cool story!
29. I have an obsession with lotion. I always have some with me. And, I only like Vaseline Intensive Care...the yellow bottle. I get Bath and Body Works lotion all the time and I just don't care for it.
30. I can't wait until I fall madly in love and have beautiful babies .

If thy right foot offend thee...
Running races for good causes = two years of painful foot problems
Chasing after children at work = two more years of painful foot problems
Dancing like a fool at Zumba = even more painful foot problems
Diagnosis = A big clunky black boot, ibuprofen, and NO running!
Pictures of my ugly veiny feet on the web = PRICELESS!

Sometimes.....
Sometimes I feel like I am going through this crazy life all by myself and that no one really cares, but I learned a lesson the other day that this is so not the case. I was at my older sister's house last night and her husband told me that after my little stint in the ER, the kids woke up the next morning and asked, "Is Aunt Began (that's what they call me and I LOVE IT!) ok? They were really worried about me. So, worried that they, along with their pops stayed home from school and work....now that's concern. It just made me aware of how blessed I am with the people in my life and that I do have people that love me and care about me. xoxox
Happy Hugging Day!
Mondays aren't usually my favorite days, but today was an exceptional day. As the kids were trickling into our classroom, there was a conversation about today being a holiday. I asked one of the students what holiday it was. She replied, "It's Valentine's Day!" I told her that it wasn't Valentine's Day, but Groundhogs Day. I guess she thought that I said, "Ground Hugs Day," because she responded, "Hugging Day?" "I love hugs!" So, maybe the Groundhog did see his shadow and maybe we are going to have six more weeks of winter (blech), but I got a hug from a little girl who was giving out hugs for free. I will gladly replace Groundhogs Day for Hugging Day!
