Look what daily affirmations can do...

On Tuesday, I turned on the TV to watch a rerun of Glee, but then realized the State of the Union was on. I am a bit embarrassed to admit, but I don't think I have ever actually watched an entire State of the Union. So, I decided to stick it out (ok, I did go between this and Wheel of Fortune...not gonna lie!). I thought it was pretty good. I am not a huge Obama fan, but that man knows how to give speeches. Seriously. But, I must say the best part of the entire speech was when they panned the audience and there in the middle sat this guy.....

STUART SMALLEY!!!

Who knew that all those daily affirmations led Stuart to do some great things...like Congress?! Ok, So he wasn't dressed in a super blonde, a bit better than Donald Trump hairdo and a sweater I once wore in the 80's. But, there he sat.

I think the speech would have been so much better if Obama would have ended with, "My Fellow Americans, I'm good enough. I'm smart enough. And doggone it, people like me!"

If only.....

This is one of the reasons why watching these kiddos is so much fun.

He told me that when he grew up he was going to kiss me. He's 4. I am 35. You do the math. Oh, and he has kissed me several times...

And, the other day he did some cool whistle thing and I asked him how he did it. He responded, "I am very tricky!" Seriously. I love this kid.

11 years ago today we said goodbye to my mom after a year battle with breast cancer. Gosh, I still miss her lots. And, I can't wait to see her again.

I almost wet myself....

Um...I pretty love this picture. My little sis was working at an elementary school as a school counselor. This grandma would come in a volunteer. I guess the day was just too much for her and she fell asleep in class, but the thing I love the most about the picture...THE BEAR!! He is doing the exact same thing as grandma and nope, it wasn't staged.

I guess a picture does say a 1,000 words or 1,000 laughs.

New Year's thoughts....

Every year I have tried to make resolutions and every year, I fail to keep them. Oh, the biggie was last years...get married in September. Believe me, I ain't doing that again. Was I just trying to set myself up for a huge disappointment when the day came and went and all I got was a burrito for Chipotle? Oh well....

I was reading a post that my friend (and one of my fav mission companions) wrote. She had a really good idear. Instead of resolutions, she does mantras or some saying that she is going to live by through out the year. The one she had last year was, "This is my year!" She started a new job, lost 70 lbs. (and looks fab!), and started dating a pretty swell guy. I liked her positive outlook on life. So, Miss Alison, I hope you don't mind that I steal your last years mantra, but

THIS IS MY YEAR!!!

I eagerly await what life has to offer for the upcoming year. So, Bring it on, 2011. I am ready.
