A Brief Rant....

During the summer, I do quite a bit of respite for some of my students with Autism. I like to take them to different venues. It's good for them to be out in the public. And, I think it's good for the rest of the world to be aware of these children and how to interact with them etc. Here's my rant: If you see me out and about with one of my students and it looks like we are having a struggle, like my hair, shirt or any body part is getting pulled, pinched, bit or scratched and my face is not looking happy. ASK IF YOU CAN HELP ME!!!! or STOP STARING!! The child I am with is not a spoiled brat and they just aren't getting their way. Chances are they just don't know how to communicate properly, so they are acting out the only way they can by either aggressing or throwing a temper tantrum. We are not a side show providing afternoon entertainment. I am trying to help this child and sometimes find myself in a spot where if someone could just carry my purse, I would be ever so grateful! I was out yesterday with a student and he became very upset that we had to leave the fun rides at Liberty Park. Understood. He tried to attack me by pulling my hair, scratching my face, biting my hand and pulling my shirt. Did anyone offer to help? NOPE. Did people stare? You betcha! It took a good half an hour to get to my car and by the time we got there I was sweaty and done! A kind smile or an offer of help would have been very very nice. I know it's not easy to ask if someone needs help, but oh it's so worth it! A kind lady helped me out last year and I am still grateful that she offered. Ok, my rant is over! Have a nice day.

Reasons why woodchips are a bad idea for playgrounds..

The school's playground has woodchips and they suck. Here is why:

* Kids pee in them!

*Kids poo in them!

* Kids vomit in them!

* They aren't pretty to look at!

* And the biggest reason why woodchips suck.....one went straight through my flip flop and into my foot! It hurt real bad! So much that I am still whining about it.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot........

For Miss Millie's birthday we headed to the city of Wendover to rock out to a few fantastic tunes by the lovely Pat Benatar. The lady still can sing. And, don't we look like totally radical....as usual!!

Farmers Market

Yesterday, I went to the Downtown Farmers Market. My first visit of the season. It really makes me happy! I got two gigantic zucchinis for a mere $2! This is why the Farmers Market rocks my socks. I, also, found a cool switch plate for my nephew, Calvin. It was of Calvin and Hobbes. The Farmers Market has so much to offer---produce, ethnic foods, jewelry, German breads(yum), artwork, and yes, even some funky switch plates! So, basically......Farmers Market + Megan = Pure Bliss!

If you haven't ever had the opportunity to visit the Farmers Market, give me a call and I will gladly go with you!

I AM SO TIRED!!

I have always had a great respect for moms, working moms, and especially single moms. This week, I am gaining more respect for all of them. I am currently watching one of my students for the entire week. Yep, the entire week. It's going pretty well, but it's only 2:00 pm on Wednesday and I really want to take a nap, but know that if I do he will get in all sorts of mischief. Yesterday, I was watching a movie while he was in his room watching a movie or so I thought. When I went to go check up on him, I had discovered his very own slip 'n' slide in his bedroom. He has his own TV and VCR and they are on a big piece of plastic. Plastic+Water= a pretty awesome time! He was soaked, the plastic was soaked, and I was trying hard to not laugh. You have to admit that it was pretty ingenious. Overall, it's going well, but I can't wait until Saturday. And they always said that Saturday was a special day. I believe it now!

And introducing the NEW Mr. Yummy....

Go see "The Proposal" and then we can chat!!

In a Magical World called Disney...

I LOVE this pic of us!

(first Disney Parade ever....I got a little verklempt at seeing Mickey!)
(Disney's Jungle Cruise...be vera vera scared!)

(Super hot...the drink helped to cool me down! And, it was yummy!)

So, I have never been to Disney Land or World. When my friend's mom found out this shocking news, she made this wonderful trip happen. They ran me ragged! It was all worth it...even the almost heart attack I had on the Tower of Terror! I felt like a little kid getting sucked into the magic of it all. I was in complete awe at how amazing the rides were. I loved that each ride had a story to it. Even, the shows were wonderful....can't really say that about Lagoon, now can we?
I had a most excellent time with a silly, crazy, funny, wonderful family. Many, many thanks to the Bollinger Family! I had a fantastic time.
It's been a while since I blogged....forgive me! I have been busy and without a home computer to post pictures.
Here's a small recap of a few past events...and maybe, just maybe I will get around to blogging them.

I went to Florida to visit Mickey and Friends. It was my first trip to Florida and my first time in any place that starts with Disney. I had a blast! I am looking forward to another trip. I had such a good time with the Bollingers that I wish they had an available son, that I could marry! What a fun family! Many many thanks to them.

Our annual Rootbeer tasting party was a hit...did you expect otherwise! It was super fun. If you missed it, look out for next's years invite.

The end of the school year. It was a great school year with many fond memories, but boy am I glad it's over with.

I am getting my passport on Monday for my trip to the Emerald Isle. Can't wait.

I finished reading Tori Spelling's second book. I don't know why I love her so much, but I do.
